A 1-Day Long Island Wine Tour Out of New York City

I finally had the pleasure of visiting a winery out on the North Fork this past weekend. Amazingly, I had never been on a wine tour before (I say amazingly because I really like to drink wine). This specific tour, Sourced Adventures, left out of the Lower East Side around 9AM, with our first winery stop starting at 11AM sharp.

Raphael Vineyard & Winery was the first stop on the 4-hour tour, and needless to say, it was by far the most beautiful. Modeled after the Tuscan vineyards nestled in the Italian countryside, Raphael did a good job of transporting you to a land far away from the tip of Long Island. Of course, it didn’t hurt that we had a perfect day of 80 degree, sunny weather.

Look at all that green!!!

I got to taste four different wines grown and harvested right on their land, as well as explore the rows of grapes extending to the horizon. Known as a hot ticket engagement and wedding venue, Raphael’s had a mystifying wooden staircase that led to the top of the winery facility, roped off only for those on a more romantic getaway.

There was a quaint gift shop available inside, and a full-service wine bar with flights, wine specials, and tastings available to all visitors.

The tour, which made subsequent stops at Lenz Winery and Osprey’s Dominion, wrapped up at 4PM. The entire day, transportation included, cost around $125 (not including any wine and gift purchases made at the locations). We were back in the heart of NYC just in time for dinner.

I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone in the NYC area looking for a fun single-day summer getaway.
